Monterey Bay Aquarium – Kelp Forest

The Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA, is one of my favorite places to spend a day.  I first went there in 20o7, and my visit last week was my fourth time through.  This time around I had a video camera!  I plan on showing the aquarium in six installments.  Yes… there is that much to share!

The first video in the series shows the crown jewel exhibit:  The Kelp Forest.  This 28 foot deep living kelp aquarium was the first of its kind in the world.  Monterey Bay Aquarium pioneered some technologies and management systems that make the display possible, and all the other kelp forest displays that have popped up all over the world benefit from the knowledge gleaned from this display.  I can sit and stare at it for hours, especially the huge school of sardines.

i have been to this zoo and it is truly awesome especially for a midwest south dakota boy like myself to get to CA alone was awesome. I also enjoy the minn zoo and the omaha zoo as they are much more realistic for me to get to. Omahas aquarium and jungle exhibit are highly recommended by myself. i really enjoyed seeing the oscars swimming at my feet like we were in the wild.
